Step 1. Define your requirements
The more precise the inquiry, the faster and more accurate the offer. Specify:
- product and grade: cathodes M00k to GOST 546-2001 (equivalent to Cu-CATH-1); rod KM M001 to GOST R 53803-2010 or KMO to plant specification (see Russian copper wire rod grades);
- rod diameter — most often 8 mm;
- special requirements, if any: oxygen content, oxide film thickness, coil weight, packing;
- volume: a single lot or regular monthly deliveries;
- destination and Incoterms basis.
Step 2. Get a commercial offer
Send an inquiry via the form, messenger or e-mail. Within 1–2 business days we send an offer: price, lead time, payment and delivery terms, and a sample plant certificate.
Step 3. Understand how the price is set
Copper prices change every day following exchange quotations, so an offer is valid for a limited time, and the final price is fixed in the contract or specification on the date of the deal. Lot size, delivery basis, payment terms and logistics also affect the price.
Step 4. Sign the contract
The contract or specification should state:
- grade, standard or specification, diameter;
- quantity and weight tolerance;
- price, how it is fixed, and payment terms;
- delivery time and Incoterms basis;
- quantity and quality acceptance procedure and the documents supplied with the lot.
Step 5. Check the supplier
- check the company in the official Russian register (EGRUL / EGRIP) by its tax number (INN);
- ask for a sample certificate showing the producing plant, grade and standard;
- pay only to the company's bank account under a contract and invoice;
- be careful if the price is well below the market and product documents are not shown.
Step 6. Shipment and delivery
Rod and cathodes are shipped by truck (typically about 20 t per truck), by rail or in containers. Rod comes in coils of about 3.3 t on wooden pallets, cathodes in bundles of about 2.5 t. Under GOST, rod is transported in covered vehicles; open transport is allowed by agreement with the buyer.
Step 7. Accepting the lot
- check the coil tags: producer, rod designation, coil number, net and gross weight, lot number;
- check weight and appearance: rod without tangled turns, cathodes without dendritic nodules;
- match the certificate to the lot.
Store rod indoors, away from moisture and chemically active substances. The guaranteed storage period under GOST R 53803-2010 is 3 months.
Documents supplied with an export lot
- contract and specification;
- commercial invoice and packing list;
- plant quality certificate for the lot;
- transport documents (CMR, railway bill or bill of lading);
- certificate of origin and export declaration.
